Phoenix Food Nerds Picnic!

If you live in the Phoenix area and like good food, you have no excuse not to have a bookmark in your browser for Yelp and UrbanSpoon may have their uses, but if you’re looking for a really good, unbiased message board with honest reviews, discussion and up-to-date news, PHXfoodnerds is where it’s at!

Go Visit and join in the fun!

The forum was created by Dominic Armato, who also writes one of my favorite food blogs, The focus of is clearly to bring people together and form a community of like-minded food lovers to talk about great food, local restaurants, cooking, and whatever else needs talking about. As this community has grown in size and familiarity, there have been great opportunities to meet up at restaurants and enjoy amazing food and company. A new tradition has been the “Phoenix Food Nerds Picnic”, which I had the pleasure to attend for my second time last weekend.

The picnic was graciously hosted by one of the board members, and the invite was open to anyone who RSVP’d on the thread in the “Events and Gatherings” forum. The great thing about a pot-luck style event with so many food nerds, is that the food is amazing! It was an evening of tasty eats, and great company. We stayed late and chatted about local restaurants, recipes, travel, beer, wine, and even some non-food related stuff. I’ll post the photos I snapped below for you to drool over. Keep in mind I missed a bunch of dishes, like the mouth-watering Beef Rendang and Eggplant Curry, but you’ll get the idea.

Until the next picnic, thanks for the great time PFN! And remember, drop by and visit. It’s a very welcoming group.
